Meet Julie

Helping people give voice to what matters most to them has been at the heart of my work since my early days teaching in NYC. After years in the classroom, I went on to create a literacy program and spent decades helping children express their thoughts and opinions through writing and publishing book reviews online — and watching them discover the joy of feeling being heard and seen. I believed then and still believe that feeling genuinely listened to, and knowing that what you think and feel matters to others, is one of the most profound experiences a human being can have.

After losing my father, I became a hospice volunteer and trained as an end-of-life doula — wanting to bring more ease and peace to that time of life. It was through that work that I discovered Dignity Therapy, a research-based approach that helps people reflect on what has mattered most in their lives — bringing a sense of meaning, dignity, and peace. I saw what it offered people, and I began to wonder: why should this wait? These conversations have value at any stage of life.

Reflections on Life and Legacy grew out of that realization. Preserving what matters most shouldn't happen in a moment of crisis, rushed, or under pressure. There is value in reflecting on our lives before it feels urgent. Reflection isn't only about looking back. Recalling meaningful memories and experiences can illuminate the present — informing how we move forward, for ourselves and for the people we love.
